Haiti in Music. In 1936 Alan Lomax travelled to Haiti at the request of his friend Zora Neale Hurston to produce some of the earliest quality recordings of the unique musical soul of Haiti.  These recordings have recently been remastered. They are absolutely incredible.  Read more about the project here.

Sierra Club Changes: Michael Brune named Executive Director of the Sierra Club.  Brune, formerly Executive Director of the Rainforest Action Network is likely to continue to focus on corporate change at the nation's largest grassroots environmental organization. Brune will likely accelerate the Club's successful work to halt the construction of new coal fired power plants. (No new coal plants were built in the US in 2009).
